About Amali Tea Company
Imagine laboring day in and day out under the hot African sun. You tend to the precious tea plants with the same care and attention you give to your children. You have a family to support, food to put on the table, dreams of higher education for your kids. You work hard and produce the highest quality tea in Kenya, which is sold and bought around the globe. Of course, you’re enjoying a decent living wage, right?

In a perfect world, this scenario would ring true. But, sadly, it does not. While those growing the tea deserve to profit from its sale, often the high cost of inputs and low price of tea on the world market leave the farmers with very little. Kenya is a world-class and global-leading producer of some of the best quality pesticide free and near-organic (minimal fertilizer use) black and green teas, yet the farmers who produce these teas do not reap financial benefits proportionate to the value of their teas.

It is this predicament that inspires and guides the business of The Amali Tea Company. The Amali Tea Company is a subsidiary company of The Amali Group, both created in 2006, and with the goal of marketing and selling Kenyan teas in the United States, while empowering Kenya’s hardworking tea farmers and growers.

Amali in Kiswahili, the national language in Kenya, means business. It’s an apt name for this Californian and Kenya-based company comprised of four Kenyan-born men and women who really do mean business. Business with a purpose.

Vision
Amali Tea Company’s partners fulfill their business purpose by strategically aligning with influential, successful, and prolific tea companies in the U.S., who ascribe themselves to a socially responsible way of transacting business. Amali Tea Company sources its teas from a factory that serves a tea farming community located in Kenya’s Central Province District of Kirinyaga.

The company’s partners together with farmers from this area have identified valuable community projects desired by this tea farming community, which can be realized from resources generated from the sale of the farmers’ teas. Amali Tea Company envisions working together with U.S. tea companies to fulfill this. By thus providing these American companies with a socially conscious alternative to buying bulk Kenyan tea, Amali Tea Company has a sound business model that benefits everyone involved.

Amali Tea Company’s mantra is simple: Pure Products. Perfected Process. Peaceful Progress. Read More
